You win some, you lose some. And I just happen to lose this one by a landslide.
A not so successful weekend at full gallop (prelim).
Dressage: as per usual, Memphis was brilliant in warm up, but by the time we got into the ring his mental capacity had reached its boiling point and he fell apart. Lesson learned: shorter warm up.
We put in a pretty awful dreasge test. Oh well.
Cross country: the awfulness of our crosscountry put the awfulness of our dressage test to shame. And, this was not an easy course. Lots of complicated questions, and not a lot of galloping. He treated me as if I was an annoying fly on his back; I clearly didn't know what I was doing, and Memphis CLEARLY had it under control, because apperently he knows everything. (Sarcasm) before a jump into the water, he spooked at a gas can on the side of the field causing us to get a refusal. Silly boy. He also decided it was fun to take off intbetween every jump (the wrong direction) I was exhausted by the end of the course.
Stadium: the wild man at it again, reminiscing about his jumper days the moment we enter the ring. This was probably the best of the three phases, though that's not saying much. I will also take credit for this bad round, as I needed to use my body to control him rather than my hand. We went clear though, regardless of the number of strides we left out in all of the lines.
So, unfortunately this does not count as a qualifier for a 1 star because of the stop cross country. But we have 2 more prelims to hopefully go clear at.
Not discouraged yet, I know we can do it, it will just take a bit more work:)
